Under My Skin: 2014 - 2016

HD video, color and black & white, stereo, 07:35 mins, loop

In "Beyond the Pleasure Principle" Freud proposes the idea that the human experience is defined by the oscillation between the life and death drives (namely "Libido" and "Mortido"). "Libido" is related to hunger, self-preservation and sexual desire; "Mortido" creates aggression, compulsion, destruction and a drive towards non-existence. These drives define one another by opposition, i.e., eating preserves life but destroys that which is eaten.

"Under My Skin" is a triptych video and photo series that explores these concepts within the realm of erotic activities. Portraying certain psychological and physiological states, shifting from the surface towards the interior, "Under My Skin" is at times gentle and seductive, at others visceral and menacing, creating a landscape in which bodies are limitless erogenous spaces.
